The Noordoostpolder, the municipality Zuidberg is located in, is a geographical region full of entrepreneurship. It manufactures machines and steel constructions for customers all over the globe. Local companies see stable growth in manufacturing purchases. With that, the possibility for employment for those who are seeking also rises.
“Future in the Manufacturing Industry” is an collaborative initiative from the municipality, government institutions, schools and local businesses. It aims to activate people currently in welfare for a job in manufacturing, by giving them options for re-education.
The participant can get re-educated for jobs in welding, service engineering or operating. He or she gets an employment contract of at least one year, for at least 25 hours a week. The course will be financed by branch organisations.
Friese Poort, a vocational school in the Noordoostpolder, will arrange the participant’s eight-week study. After that, participants start their internships at Zuidberg or one of the seven other manufacturing companies associated with the “Future in Manufacturing Industry” initiative. They continue to get welfare throughout the whole learning process, so they can keep focussed on their education.
Zuidberg will be hosting the first introduction day on the 13th of September. Participants of the initiative can establish first contact with all instances and companies involved. Friese Poort will be helping the participants find their interests and possibilities. If both parties are willing, they can start looking for a suitable organisation to host their internship.
Zuidberg values the interests of their regional co-inhabitants and is actively looking to create a better connection between education and the employment market. We are proud to be part of this project.
