Case study: Dewulf

Producing agricultural machinery requires craftsmanship. That’s why Zuidberg has been a reliable supplier for Dewulf for many years. “Zuidberg develops solutions for the agricultural world, just like we do,” says buyer Jan Visser. “The facilities in their factory are extremely valuable to us.”

“THANKS TO ITS VERSATILE FACTORY, ZUIDBERG CAN MEET OUR SPECIFIC NEEDS.”

Dewulf is an international manufacturer of agricultural machinery for the cultivation of potatoes and root crops. Jan works at the Winsum site, where planting and storage machines are produced. “Here, we weld and coat all the components before our dealers sell the complete machines to arable farmers and contractors around the world.”

Zuidberg cutting and bending parts for both the construction and housing of the machines. “Sometimes, we have specific requirements. For example, for soil cultivation machines, we choose extra-hardened steel, as it is more wear-resistant. Thanks to Zuidberg’s versatile factory, originally designed for agricultural machinery, they can respond well to these kinds of requests.”

THINKING ALONG FROM START TO FINISH

When introducing new machines, Jan now knows exactly which components fit best with Zuidberg. “Together, we look at how to make these components as efficiently and effectively as possible. We discuss things like thicknesses, materials, and specific machining steps. The employees think along with us from start to finish.”

The components, of course, need to arrive on time in Winsum. “If that’s ever delayed, or we urgently need something, we always find a solution together. We communicate openly, which often creates new opportunities. Sometimes, Zuidberg even takes over some of our welding work so that the process moves faster.”

GROWING TOGETHER

Jan sees Zuidberg as an extension of Dewulf. “We continuously improve our products and processes — that’s essential because we’re operating in a growing market. To meet demand, we recently opened a new 6,000-square-metre hall. The fact that Zuidberg also continues to invest in new facilities gives us confidence in the future.”

JAN VISSER:
“AT TIMES, ZUIDBERG TAKES ON SOME OF OUR WELDING WORK TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS.”
